Gallagher is looking for an Accountant to join the team in Cologne, Germany.
Are you a focused, dedicated and motivated professional?
In this role you will be responsible for managing and maintaining financial records in compliance with German GAAP and US GAAP. This role involves processing financial transactions, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, and collaborating with centralized finance teams to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Please note that this role is a temporary position and can be filled on a part-time or full-time basis.

How You'll Make An Impact
We will count on you to:
- Prepare and maintain financial records in accordance with German GAAP and US GAAP.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are documented and resolved promptly.
- Utilize DATEV software for accounting tasks, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with centralized finance teams (Accounting, Treasury, Tax) to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Assist in special projects and other duties as assigned by the finance manager.
- Prepare annual German GAAP financial statements.
- Update the "Account Book" for monthly revenue, brokerage expenses, receivables, and payables.
- Prepare word document invoices for clients with fee income.
- Follow up with insurers and chase payments as needed.
- Process invoices for payment via online banking.
- Collate expense claims for payment and accounting, including company credit card expenses and employee-funded expenses.
- Review SD Worx payroll data and ensure standing orders agree with payslips; book payroll accounting entries.
- Manage petty cash in compliance with AJG FPM guidelines.
- Review monthly revenue and costs against budget.
What you will bring:
- Accounting qualification or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk or similar role in the broking or financial services industry
- Strong knowledge of German GAAP; US GAAP experience is an advantage
- Proficiency in DATEV software is highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency in English and German
