Frontier Economics

Frontier Economics is an economics consultancy that tackles the big questions facing governments, businesses and society. We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear and honest.

The company has grown rapidly since it was founded over 25 years ago and currently has around 500 staff working across seven European offices (London, Cologne, Dublin, Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Madrid). The company is employee-owned and has a strong culture of openness and employee engagement.

The Competition Practice:

We help high-profile clients navigate complex competition cases before the European Commission, national competition authorities, and courts across Europe. Working closely with clients, we combine clear strategic advice with rigorous economic analysis and fresh thinking. Our team brings the technical expertise and experience needed to anticipate issues and tackle challenges in innovative ways. You can find out more here.

The Consultant Role:

Our Consultants play a key role in helping clients make clear, evidence-based decisions that shape policy, markets and strategy. You’ll use your analytical skills and economic expertise to turn data into meaningful insights and deliver work that has real impact. You will design frameworks, interpret results, and contribute fresh ideas that address clients’ needs.

As a Consultant, you’ll take ownership of significant workstreams, manage tasks effectively, and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients. You’ll also support the growth of others by sharing your knowledge and providing constructive feedback.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Join our team of collaborative and talented economists who enjoy tackling complex economic questions. You will play an important role in delivering high-quality economic analysis and advice to our clients. You can expect to do the following:

Analysis and Problem Solving

  • Design and deliver clear analytical approaches for a variety of projects, applying economic theory to practical challenges.
  • Develop frameworks for both straightforward and complex issues with minimal senior input.
  • Review and integrate contributions from team members, ensuring quality and consistency in final outputs.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, sharing advanced techniques and delegating tasks appropriately.

Communication

  • Lead client meetings, listen actively and respond thoughtfully to different perspectives.
  • Structure, review and refine reports and presentations to a high standard.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to help colleagues improve their writing and presentation skills.
  • Identify and resolve communication issues within the team and with clients.

Project Management

  • Scope and lead major workstreams, ensuring projects run to time, budget and agreed objectives.
  • Manage project scope, deliverables and budgets alongside clients, with support from project managers where needed.
  • Delegate tasks clearly and oversee colleagues’ work, keeping everyone informed and motivated.
  • Seek feedback and use it to strengthen both your own work and the team’s.

Client Relationships

  • Build and maintain relationships that go beyond individual projects, keeping in touch with clients and wider networks.
  • Spot opportunities for further work and cross-team collaboration, and help take these forward.
  • Gather formal and informal feedback on projects and use it to add value.
  • Ensure clients get the maximum benefit from our work by understanding how they plan to use it.

Your Skills and Background:

We’re looking for economists who combine strong technical skills with clear communication and sound judgement. You’ll have the expertise to tackle complex economic questions, the confidence to influence clients and colleagues, and the drive to deliver high-quality work on time. You’ll also be a team player who supports and motivates others, helping us deliver practical insights and real impact for our clients.

Essential skills and experience

  • Expertise in Competition Economics, with several years of experience at an economics consultancy or regulator. Excellent communication skills and the credibility to influence a wide range of people.
  • Strong project management skills; able to motivate teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Commercial awareness and good judgement to identify practical, value-adding solutions.
  • Strong data skills, with the ability to interrogate information and generate useful insights.

The Benefits of Joining Our Team:

At Frontier Economics, we are entirely employee-owned, meaning every team member has a voice in shaping the company’s future. Our collaborative culture encourages innovation, open dialogue, and shared success. Our stimulating and thought-provoking projects are complemented by a supportive and dynamic work environment, designed to help you thrive and grow. We also offer:

  • Hybrid Working: Employees are expected to work in the office at least two days a week, with flexibility for remote work.
  • Holiday Entitlement: 28 days of annual leave, plus public holidays, with the option to purchase up to 10 additional days of holiday per year.
