Who We Are Looking For

You want to combine finance with data and get a closer look at how financial flows work in our environment? As a Working Student (d/f/m) Finance & Controlling, you’ll join our Finance team and gain hands-on experience at the intersection of payments, controlling and data analytics. Along the way, you’ll work with financial data across different REWE Group entities and contribute to topics and projects that go beyond day-to-day controlling.

Your tasks

• You support the creation and further development of recurring reports, KPI dashboards, and business cases, helping us turn financial data into meaningful insights
• You analyze cost, revenue, and transaction data and explore the financial flows behind our payments business
• You contribute to month-end closing as well as budgeting and forecasting activities and gain hands-on insights into our controlling processes
• You work with data from different sources, such as SAP and BigQuery, and gradually build your skills in SQL and data modeling
• You help us understand profitability, break-even points, and variances by digging deeper into data and identifying relevant patterns and connections
• You contribute to projects that automate and improve our controlling processes and explore how new technologies, including AI, can support our way of working
• You collaborate with different teams and entities and gain a broader understanding of financial processes across the REWE Group
• You support strategic and cross-functional projects around payments and evolving topics in the European payment landscape
• You prepare presentations and management reports, making complex financial and data-driven topics easy to understand for different stakeholders
  
  

Your Experience

• You are currently enrolled in a degree program such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a comparable field
• You enjoy working with numbers and data and approaching questions in an analytical and structured way.
• You are interested in understanding the financial and economic side of a business and ideally bring some basic knowledge of finance, accounting, or controlling
• You are curious about payments, retail, financial services, and how financial flows connect different parts of a large organization
• You are eager to deepen your knowledge of data analytics and learn tools such as SQL, BigQuery, Power BI, or similar technologies, previous experience is a plus, but you don’t need to know everything from day one
• You feel comfortable working with common office and data tools such as Excel or Google Sheets and are open to exploring new technologies, including AI-supported ways of working
• You communicate confidently in English and have German skills at B2 level or above
• You are motivated to learn, take ownership, and develop your skills while figuring out where you want to grow professionally
