Engineering Manager C#/.NET - Lead, Build & Transform - #2717970

Our client is an established German software company developing business-critical solutions for tens of thousands of customers. Following strong growth and the continued expansion of its technology organisation, the company is strengthening its engineering leadership team.

This opportunity is suited to an Engineering Manager who enjoys a fast-moving environment, brings structure to complex situations and combines people leadership with genuine technical depth. You will take ownership of one or more software development teams and help create the conditions for focused, reliable and sustainable delivery.

The organisation is undergoing an important phase of technological and operational development. You will therefore join an environment in which decisions matter, priorities may evolve and leaders are expected to turn plans into tangible results.

You will assume both disciplinary and operational responsibility for your engineering team. Your focus will be on developing people, strengthening delivery and ensuring that technical decisions support the wider product strategy.

Working closely with Product Management, technical experts and architecture, you will establish clear priorities, make progress visible and support the team in delivering valuable software with a high level of autonomy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, coaching and developing software engineers while creating a healthy and accountable team environment

• Taking ownership of team performance, delivery commitments and day-to-day execution

• Translating product priorities into realistic plans together with Product Management and technical stakeholders

• Identifying risks, dependencies and capacity constraints at an early stage and helping the team resolve them

• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance development and long-term team growth

• Challenging technical proposals and contributing to decisions around architecture, quality and maintainability

• Improving engineering practices, including testing, operational reliability and the handling of technical debt

• Helping modernise complex software products and supporting the company's continued cloud journey

• Encouraging the effective use of AI-assisted development tools while maintaining sound engineering judgement

• Collaborating across teams and locations and communicating progress, decisions and challenges clearly

This is a leadership position with strong technical proximity. You will not be expected to act as a full-time developer, but you should be able to understand implementation details, review technical approaches and engage confidently with engineers when challenges arise.

You combine engineering credibility with the ability to lead teams through growth and change.

Ideally, you bring:

• Several years of professional software development experience, with strong knowledge of C# and the .NET ecosystem

• Experience leading software engineers as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead or in a comparable position

• Previous responsibility for people development, feedback, performance and hiring

• A strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, modern development practices and production environments

• Experience delivering complex software products in an agile or iterative setting

• The ability to prioritise pragmatically, follow through on commitments and create clarity under changing conditions

• An interest in cloud transformation, software modernisation and scalable engineering structures

• Confidence working in a dynamic organisation where leaders are expected to take initiative and drive topics forward

• Practical curiosity around AI-supported software development

• Business-fluent English, as English is the company language

• German language skills are an advantage, but not a requirement

Experience with React, ERP software, e-commerce platforms, transactional systems or the transformation of established software products would be beneficial.
