Senior Regulatory Manager – Products and Active Substances
EU Based| Remote or Hybrid | €65,000 to €85,000 depending on location and experience
Introduction
Our client is seeking a Regional Regulatory Manager to take ownership of active substance projects within its European crop protection portfolio. This is a senior, hands‑on position for a regulatory professional who enjoys managing complex dossiers, coordinating experts and engaging with authorities, while contributing directly to the long‑term success of key active substances.
You will join an established, international regulatory team, working closely with a respected head of regional regulatory affairs and an experienced team lead. The role offers a blend of autonomy and support: you will be trusted to steer your projects, while having access to scientific specialists and colleagues across Europe when needed.
What Makes this Opportunity Stand Out?
The company has built a substantial portfolio of conventional crop protection products and is now reinforcing its focus on active substance renewals. By joining an organisation that is actively investing in regulatory resources, you benefit from clear strategic priorities and stable, long‑term projects, rather than short‑term, transactional work. This allows you to plan dossier strategies with confidence and see the impact of your decisions on the business.
You will work in a regulatory team that is known for its mix of senior and mid‑level experts across different disciplines. This structure gives you access to strong technical support while preserving meaningful responsibility for your own active substances. In practical terms, you can concentrate on the regulatory strategy and project management, knowing you can draw on specialist input for tox, eco tox or residues when required.
The leadership of the regulatory function has a visible track record of supporting professional development and promoting inclusive, science‑driven decision making. Being part of a team led in this way means your expertise is recognised, your voice is heard in strategic discussions, and you have space to grow into more senior responsibilities over time. It is an environment where regulatory professionals can build a long‑term career, not just complete the next renewal.
Key Responsibilities
The role is designed with flexibility in mind and can accommodate a remote or hybrid working model within Europe. Preferred locations include Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Greece, Hungary, Sweden and Slovakia, combined with periodic travel to meet colleagues or authorities.
Salary is highly dependent on location and experience, with a typical base range of approximately €65,000 p/a to €80,000 p/a. You will be joining a stable, forward‑looking company where regulatory affairs is seen as a critical enabler of growth, not just a compliance cost.
Personal development is taken seriously, with support from both line management and senior leadership. You can expect exposure to strategic discussions around portfolio planning and regulatory defence, as well as opportunities to broaden your expertise across different types of dossiers and markets over time.
Working Model
The position offers considerable flexibility and can be performed remotely or through a hybrid arrangement depending on your location.
The organisation is open to candidates across a number of European countries, including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Greece, Hungary, Sweden and Slovakia. This role cannot be based in France or Belgium.
Some travel will be required to meet colleagues, attend relevant meetings and engage with authorities.
I am a leading Regulatory Affairs recruiter in Europe with a distinguished track record of placing candidates with top companies and consultancies in the Agrochemicals and associated sectors. Even if this particular opportunity isn’t the perfect fit, we may have other exciting roles that align with your expertise – so don’t hesitate to get in touch!

- Develop and implement regulatory strategies for assigned actives, from data gap analysis through to dossier submission and follow‑up.
- Coordinate internal experts and external consultants, ensuring high‑quality contributions to tox, eco tox, residues, environmental fate and related sections.

- Monitor regulatory developments relevant to assigned actives and advise internal stakeholders on implications for product portfolios and timelines.
- Act as a key regulatory contact for authorities and external partners on assigned projects, maintaining professional, constructive relationships.
- Collaborate with commercial, technical and supply chain teams to align regulatory plans with business needs and launch/renewal schedules.

- Proven track record managing complex regulatory projects, coordinating multiple stakeholders and meeting demanding timelines.
- Ability to interpret and integrate scientific data (e.g. phys‑chem, residues, environmental fate, tox/eco tox) into coherent regulatory dossiers.
- Comfortable interacting with authorities and external partners, with clear and professional communication skills.
- Experience working in an international or matrix environment, ideally within an industry regulatory function.
- Proficient in English; additional European languages are an asset.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a pragmatic, solutions‑focused mindset.
