As an Engineering Manager (all genders), you will lead up to three cross-functional engineering teams and combine technical and engineering leadership, people development and delivery excellence to build empowered, high-performing teams.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will help shape our engineering culture, continuously improve how we build and deliver software, and drive the adoption of modern engineering approaches, including AI-native software development.

What you'll do

  • Lead, coach and develop 10-12 engineers across three cross-functional teams, fostering ownership, accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Support individual growth through regular 1:1s, mentoring, timely feedback, performance management and career development, while attracting and retaining great engineering talent.
  • Build empowered teams by removing blockers, strengthening engineering practices and improving developer experience and ways of working.
  • Drive the adoption of an AI-native software development lifecycle (SDLC) across your teams, leveraging AI, automation and emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity, developer experience, software quality and delivery effectiveness.
  • Partner closely with Staff Engineers to shape technical direction, evolve architecture, manage technical debt and strengthen engineering excellence across your teams.
  • Translate technology strategy into actionable team goals and technical priorities, balancing customer delivery with scalability, reliability, security and long-term sustainability.
  • Enable predictable, high-quality software delivery, aligning capacity and skills, managing dependencies and risks, and helping teams take ownership throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Use meaningful engineering metrics and data to identify bottlenecks and improve team effectiveness, delivery performance and operational reliability.
  • Partner with Product and other stakeholders to align customer, business and technical priorities, communicate trade-offs and contribute to product and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead teams confidently through organisational, technological and product change, providing clarity and focus in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll need

  • 2–3+ years of experience in engineering management, leading and developing one or more software engineering teams.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and navigating multiple priorities, dependencies and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an AI-native SDLC and leading the adoption of AI-based engineering practices across teams, while maintaining strong standards for testing, security, reliability and responsible use.
  • A strong software development background, with hands-on experience building and delivering modern, customer-facing applications.
  • Solid understanding of frontend and backend technologies, software architecture, APIs, cloud platforms and modern engineering practices.
  • A track record of improving engineering effectiveness, delivery and software quality.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, feedback, performance management and talent development.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge technical, product and business perspectives.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.

What you'll bring

  • A people-first leadership mindset: You empower and develop engineers while creating clear ownership and accountability.
  • Strong technical judgment: You challenge technical decisions constructively and help teams find pragmatic, sustainable solutions without needing to make every technical decision yourself.
  • A continuous improvement mindset: You challenge unnecessary complexity, remove friction and explore how AI, automation and emerging technologies can enable smarter and more effective ways of working.
  • Resilience and adaptability: You navigate ambiguity and change confidently and help teams maintain clarity and focus as priorities evolve.
  • A collaborative mindset: You build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product and other disciplines and create alignment around shared outcomes.

Above all, you bring the ambition to build teams that deliver more value with less friction, combining engineering excellence, empowered people and modern technology to create exceptional digital customer experiences.
